How to Make a Denim Handle
- 1). Measure your purse or bag to determine the handle's desired length. Add 1 inch to the handle length for seam allowance.
- 2). Determine how wide you want your handle to be and add 1 inch to that measurement. Draw a rectangle on your denim with these length and width measurements.
- 3). Cut out the rectangle and use it as a pattern to cut a second rectangle. Cut two rectangles of the same dimensions out of the fusible interfacing. Follow the instruction on the fusible interfacing to fuse the interfacing to the wrong side of the denim rectangle. Repeat this step if you need a second handle.
- 4). Fold each right side edge over by 1/2 inch. Press well. Repeat for the other handle piece. Pin the two handle pieces wrong sides together and sew a 1/4 inch seam allowance around the entire rectangle piece. Repeat this step if you are making a second handle.
- 5). Pin the handle to your bag at the place you want it to attach. Sew it to your bag. Reinforce the stitching. Repeat this step if you have a second handle.
