Simple But Good Party Food Ideas

47
So you've decided to host your first party at your home. Great! Now you'll need to get some really good food put together for your party guests. You could always just grab some frozen pizza rolls or mozzarella sticks from the freezer section of your grocery store, or you could do a little research and find yourself some quick and easy appetizer recipes to prepare to impress your friends.

One sure fire hit at any party are chips and dip. Rather than putting out the regular old nachos and salsa from the store, how about making your own tortilla chips? Heck yeah! Your guests will love it, and all you will need are some corn tortillas, lime juice, ground cumin, chili powder and salt. Preheat your oven to 350 F. Cut your tortilla chips into wedges and arrange on a cookie sheet. Next mix together half cup oil and lime juice and brush on your wedges. Mix together the cumin, chili powder and salt and then sprinkle evenly on the tortillas. Bake for 8 minutes. Turn pan and bake for another 5 minutes. Serve with a variety of garnishes and dips.

If you're more advanced and have time to prepare, then try something that everyone loves: buffalo wings. These little chicks are hits at any party, are affordable and easy enough to prepare. What you'll need are a few pounds of chicken wings, black pepper, salt, vegetable oil, butter or margarine, Tabasco sauce and white wine vinegar. First, chop off the tip of each wing and discard. Next, chop the wing in half so you have two pieces. Add black pepper and sprinkle with salt if desired. Cook in a deep fryer until golden brown and then drain on paper towels. In a medium saucepan, melt a stick of butter and add as much Tabasco as you can stand along with a tablespoon of vinegar. Pour over the wings and serve with ranch dip.

For those of you who do not want anything to do with cooking, there's always the favorite party appetizer stand-by: the cheese and cracker tray. Take it a few steps beyond the ordinary however, and get some exotic cheeses or just offer a big variety of cheese and lots of different crackers that complement the cheese flavor and not overwhelm it. You can throw in bite-size fruit and maybe some spreads to put on the crackers or bagel chips too. Sounds like the makings for a party to me!

These are just a very few, basic tips for what to serve at your first party or get-together at your home. There are hundreds of recipes and ideas available online and in cookbooks. Ask your family and friends what they serve and then use their ideas but make them your own. Remember to have fun too!
