How to Brown Pork Roast Before Baking
- 1). Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- 2). Wash the roast under cold running water and dry well with paper towel.
- 3). Rub your chosen spices on the roast. If you wish to do this the day before, you can wrap the roast and keep it in the fridge until you are ready to cook it.
- 4). Pour oil in the bottom of the pan, about 1/8-inch deep. Heat the pan on medium-high heat until hot, which will take about three to five minutes.
- 5). Using spoons and oven mitts, place the roast in the oil. If it does not sizzle loudly, turn up the heat a bit.
- 6). Use the wooden spoons to lift the roast just enough to watch for browning. When it has browned enough, roll it on to the next side.
- 7). Continue until all the sides are browned, including the ends, and place the roast in the baking pan. Carefully pour any juices from the frying pan into the roasting pan.
- 8). Roast the pork until an internal temperature of 160 degrees F has been reached.
