Throw Out Your Weigh Scale - It Lies!
It is no wonder you Fail at losing weight.
There is nothing more depressing than starting a diet, working like hell to lose weight and then stepping on the weigh-scale only to find you only lost one pound.
In your mind you say things like, "That was too hard and too much work, I cannot do this.
" So you pack it in and feel like a failure because you couldn't lose weight.
Your friends walk up to you and say, "So, how is that diet going for you?" Or in Sarah Palin's words, "How is that Hope-y Change-y thing working out?" You swallow your pride and grunt at them and feel a little less secure about yourself.
The interesting thing is "Weight Loss" programs should really be called something else, because 'Getting Slim' does not have much to do with actual weight loss.
The whole idea behind starting a weight loss program is because you want to fit into that pair of jeans you used to wear.
You know the ones that are still hanging in the closet with the Perma-Wrinkle in the legs from hanging on the hanger too long.
Instead, we should really call it a "Fat Losing Program".
You want to slim down and that damned weigh scale is actually making us feel bad and in that stressful moment we quit.
Here is what you should be doing before you start on any program.
MEASURE your body.
Get one of those fabric measuring tapes and measure your body in at least 4 or 5 different places.
Muscle cells are denser than cells which are plumped up with fat.
When you start on any program you will be losing inches like crazy and the weigh-scale may not even move.
My example was, I lost 14 inches off my body size and only dropped 3 pounds.
Had I only been looking at the weigh-scale I would have got so depressed I would have quit the program.
Another example, was a person who came to me recently.
They weighed in at 300+ pounds.
They had tried a whole bunch of 'Weight Loss" programs but they never seemed to work.
When I described to them how much muscle they already had in their body, they started to feel a little better about themselves.
"Think about it, you have enough muscle in your body right now to lift 300 pounds with your legs.
" I said.
"That is stronger than most athletes.
" I showed them how to measure their body and started them on a simple lifestyle program where they were taught to eat regular meals 3 to 5 times a day.
Within 5 days they had burned off 8 inches of fat from their body and only 1 pound.
They was so excited about that, there was no way they would quit the program after that.
When you feel good about the changes you are making in your lifestyle and you see results you will feel better about yourself and continue longer.
Imagine, there are fat cells all over your body.
You could be slimming down in places you cannot see and would never know if you went only by the weigh-scale.
The 'Power-House' of muscle you have built up from carrying around that very weight remains.
Measure 4-5 points minimum; • Around your chest at the nipple line.
• Around your gut at the naval line.
• Around your hips across the thickest part of your bum • and measure your thighs.
• I have seen people measure their wrists, shoulders, neck, calves and as many other points as they could see which had fat on them.
