A little over a year ago, I gave birth to my beautiful son Jacob. After I was blessed with Jacob, I was also not so blessed with about 30 pounds. (This added to the other 30 pounds from first son Jordan who I still hadn't lost after diet after diet).

Also, I was a working mother who had just gotten a promotion and also had just purchased a new home. So, a top of the typical baby weight, I found myself having a harder time with weight control because of just the normal stresses of life.

After several fad diets and many months later, something finally worked - I began to focus on my metabolism.

Metabolism is how your body burns fuel to give you the energy you need to get through your day to day activities. Speeding up your metabolism causes your body to burn calories faster. The quicker your body burns calories, the easier it is for you to lose weight.
So, how do you boost your metabolism?

First, do not skip meals!! The fist meal of the day, breakfast, is so important. Think of it as the start switch for your metabolism for the day. This meal kicks of your day, and the other meals keep the wheels turning. If you skip these meals, your body will then begin to store calories as a defensive mechanism.

Next, eat many small meals throughout the day. By eating frequent meals throughout the day, you are helping you metabolism move along throughout the day.

Also, you have to exercise. This needs no explaining - The more you exercise and build muscle, the higher your metabolism rate. No if ands or buts!! Do not let any fad diet tell you that you do not need to exercise because it just isn't true.

Don't forget to stay hydrated. Drink eight glass of weight a day. Your body and actually your complexion will thank you for it. Metabolism in a way needs water to operate - so, if you are thirsty, drink water, do not drink your calories drink water!.

Lastly, but definitely just as importantly, you must change your mind set. To effectively carry out all of the steps above, you have to change the way you approach your day and life. You must decide that you are important, and that you can and will be a healthy person. That the picture of you in your head can be the actual picture you see in the mirror.
