Aerobic exercise is one of the best ways to improve your cardiovascular fitness and also to lose weight.
But what kind of exercise can be considered as an aerobic exercise? Well, any exercise that can increase your heart rate into the target zone and maintain it for more than 20 minutes can be considered as an aerobic exercise.
So in other words, exercises like jogging, cycling, running, swimming, climbing stairs and jumping can be considered as aerobic exercise as long as you are able to keep your heart rate at your target zone.
How do you know if your heart rate is hitting your target zone? You will need to get an aerobic equipment called the heart rate monitor.
With this, you can monitor your heart rate so that you know if you are hitting your goals when you are working out and you can also ensure that you don't over train yourself.
Normally, when the word 'aerobic' is mentioned, the first thing that comes to people's mind is the aerobics, or aerobic dance.
Aerobic dance is usually done in groups and these classes are available in most gyms and fitness centers.
If you are not interested in doing aerobic dance, you can still do aerobic exercise using an aerobic or cardiovascular equipment.
Working out on a treadmill, elliptical machine, stationary bike, stepper or a rower can all be categorized as an aerobic exercise.
With the aid of a heart rate monitor, you can then make sure if your heart is really getting the necessary workout.
Switch Equipment Now working out on the same equipment can be boring.
So, one thing that I would recommend everyone do is to switch between these equipment after each session.
This way you can avoid over working the same parts of your body and allow you to have a total body workout.
